GDPR Privacy Policy

You have a right to expect us to have proper systems in place to prevent any personal information we may hold about you from being lost, stolen, misused or shared with others without your informed consent.

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in May 2018 and means that we now need your informed consent for us to retain your details and stay in touch with you. You can provide consent when you join by clicking the relevant box on the membership page. Or you can join our mailing list without being a member by completing the same form to provide your contact details and checking the alternative box (see membership page).

We want to reassure you that:

  • We will only retain the information that we have a legitimate need for in order to manage membership and to promote BSPID events and conferences which may be of interest to you.

  • All personal information will be stored in a matter which is fully compliant with GDPR requirements.

  • We will not share any information about you with other organisations without your consent.

  • We will not hold information with you for longer than is necessary. If at any point you wish your details to be removed from our records, then please just email the membership secretary Dr Alison Bacon ambacon@plymouth.ac.uk, and your details will be deleted from our records forthwith.

  • We will inform you directly if for any reason we have a concern around the confidentiality of information we hold about you and advise you on any action we are taking.

We will expect any other organisations we do business with to operate with the same standards.
